1.      Choose three sectors from the 9 operating pillars of the tourism industry.  Develop it from using any of the approaches.  If you will have food and beverage, do include site map, site location, theme and lay-out of the food and beverage entity.

            I chose Events Sector, Food Service and Travel Sector.  I want to use the geographical approach and the product approach. In my case I want to pursue the most the food service.

            The establishment is to be known as ABC Bed and Breakfast is needed to accommodate additional guests and tourist of.  The municipality of Tagaytay is an active and popular as a tourist destination, and the Department of Tourism (DOT) has considered it as a good place for visitors.

Scope of the Project

            Considering the location of the business, tourist, conference participants are one of the target consumers of the venture.  The business is focused in accommodation and serving of breakfast to customers.

            The large chunk of the funding for this venture i.e., about 75%  will be used to re-model the old building and for the purchase of furniture and fixtures like beds, dining tables, sofas, cabinets, etc.  The rest of the funds were utilized to purchase additional supplies like towels, pillows, toiletries and other food supplies.

            Online marketing will be used to promote the business venture.  Also the proponent will be partnering with the local government of the Tagaytay City in Cavite to be included in the portfolio of the town tourist accommodation.

Limitations of the Project

Since the business is a start–up, it will not immediately provide all the services to the customer.  It can only accommodate seven to ten guests for the meantime providing breakfast meals for them. 

The project proponent will be the person-in-charge of its operations to minimize the cost of manpower.  The project proponent will be also called as the Inn Manager that will spear head the finance, marketing, coordination of customers and collaboration with other ventures.  In the event that the project proponent will need extra manpower that is required in offering services on time, family members is ready to assist.  Compensation is commissioned based and depends on the arrivals of the guests.

 

The project will have a lead time of three months prior to its launching.  This period will cover the processing of documents, establishment of the business venture and commencement of operations.  The business venture will start at cost even after the specified time and thorough assessment; evaluation and feedback from the consumers and business performance will be done to make the necessary adjustments, if any.

Significance of the Project

The project aims to formalize the operations of the ABC Bed and Breakfast as a business venture.  This will also help slowly increase and develop the infrastructure of ABC Bed and Breakfast to accommodate and serve more guests.

About Tagaytay City

            Tagaytay, authoritatively the City of Tagaytay (Filipino: Lungsod ng Tagaytay), is a constituent city in the province of Cavite, in the Philippines. It is one of the country's most admired tourist destinations because of its marvelous scenery and cooler climate provided by its high altitude. Tagaytay overlooks Taal Lake in Batangas and gives one of the iconic views of the Philippines, the view of Taal Volcano Island in the middle of the lake,  can be observed and seen from several vantage points in the city.

            Tagaytay is fairly near to the capital city of Manila, only 55 km (34 mi) away via Aguinaldo Highway, on condition that an easy get away for the locals from the heat of the big city.

The guest/clients

            The rationale of establishing the bed and breakfast business venture is to be able to help the tourism industry of  Tagaytay and to generate income for the sustainability of the business venture, as well.  The local and foreign tourists will be able to enjoy the nature and tourism attractions of the province, while ABC LB will provide them with the kind of comfort they seek through out their travel.

Future Researchers

            This project will be a good reference for students who would like to enter the same venture.  This project will give some new insights regarding the principles and do’s and don’ts in establishing a business venture like this.
